A little about me:
Hi, my name is Tammy Baalman and I am the owner, designer, and metal artist for TorchStone Jewelry. I am a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, loyal friend and Native Texan. I love visiting other places, but Texas will always be home. I am fortunate enough to have a loving and supportive family who encourages me to keep doing what I love and do it to the best of my ability. Aside from creating in my studio, I love snorkeling, scuba diving, dancing and spending time with my family.

How it all began:
As a child, I remember getting a rock tumbler and after what seemed like forever, especially for a child, being absolutely amazed at the progression from rough ordinary looking rocks to highly polished beautifully colored trinkets. My favorite subject in school was science, especially the identification of rocks. I found it absolutely fascinating to see what wonders the earth had to offer. Anytime I was near a pile of rocks or walking along a beach, I found myself searching for a pretty rock or a unique shell. Truth be told, I still do!
Many years later, looking for beads for a project, I wandered into a local bead store and noticed they had a beginner soldering class. After making a set of silver stacking rings with a tiny bezel set stone, I was hooked! I normally only stick with a hobby for a year or so before I tire of it, but this was different. This was the outlet for my creativity that I had been searching for. As a Business Data Analyst, my career didn't afford me much opportunity for creativity, so this was the perfect way to balance my analytical side with my creative side. The bonus was the ability to marry my love of beautiful stones with my newfound love, silversmithing. Creating wearable art I can share with others from a sheet of silver, a bit of silver wire, an idea, and a stone procured from some amazing cabochon artists feeds my soul.
